These are the five summer 2026 trends I actually think are worth your money. Not because they are the loudest, but because they will still look good in a year, and because you will reach for them more than once.
1. LONGLINE AND BERMUDA SHORTS
The very short short had its moment and it is winding down. What is replacing it is longer, more relaxed, easier to wear in real life. Bermuda lengths and longline styles that sit closer to the knee, in linen or cotton, in neutrals you can build an outfit around.
The appeal is obvious once you wear them. They are flattering in a way micro shorts never were for most people, and they read more considered. Pair them with a tucked tee and flat sandals and the whole thing looks intentional.
Handkerchief hems, asymmetric cuts, skirts that fall longer on one side. This is the trend I was most skeptical of and have come around on completely. Done right, an uneven hemline adds movement to an otherwise simple outfit without trying hard.
The key is restraint. One piece with an interesting hemline, everything else clean. A handkerchief-hem skirt with a plain tank, or a dress with an asymmetric cut and nothing else competing for attention.
Wedges are back and they have been redesigned, thank god. Gone is the chunky cork platform of a decade ago. What is here now is sleeker, often a thong-sandal silhouette on a clean wedge, which is genuinely flattering and far more comfortable for a full day than a heel.
This is the trend I am least sure you need but the most fun on the list. The crochet bucket hat has evolved into a fitted skullcap, often with beading, pearls, or sequins. It is playful, a little unexpected, and reads very current right now.
Not a garment, a color. A specific deep red, the shade of a Campari spritz, turning up on bags, sandals, and small accessories. It is the easiest trend on this list to adopt because it asks for nothing more than one red thing against an otherwise neutral outfit.
If you only buy one thing off this list, make it the longline shorts. They are the most useful, the most flattering, and the one you will actually wear on repeat. The skullcap is the most fun. The rest are somewhere in between.
